Marine who protected two U. S. presidents. South Carolina state trooper. Football coach. Small business owner. Good neighbor. Loving dad. They’re all part of Chris Wooten’s remarkable story.
A South Carolina native, Chris entered the United States Marine Corps after high school. His reliability and trustworthiness led to his selection as part of the elite Marine unit that protected Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush at the White House.
After leaving the service, Chris became a South Carolina state trooper, where he was picked for the Governor’s protection detail.
In time, Chris was ready for a new challenge. He had always stayed in top physical condition and enjoyed helping others get in shape as a trainer. So he founded BodyShop Athletics in Lexington to help his neighbors enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. He also worked as a football coach at Lexington and River Bluff High Schools.
Chris lives in Lexington with his children Woods, Carsan, and Zuri and attends The Harvest Church in Lexington. He’s a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and an ordained minister.
It’s been an amazing journey. From standing guard for presidents on the White House lawn to coaching on the high school football fields of South Carolina’s Midlands, from protecting our governor as a state trooper to building a successful small business from scratch, Chris Wooten is part of the heartbeat of Lexington County. That’s why he’s once again answering the call to serve us in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
